Abstract
Steel seismic force-resisting systems commonly employed in buildings include moment-resisting frames, eccentric bracing, and concentric bracing systems. During major earthquakes, beam elements may suffer
severe damage and require replacement, which is often difficult to implement; therefore, alternative systems are needed. One proposed solution is the replaceable link (RL) system, although its effectiveness is strongly influenced by the link dimensions. This study investigates a modified replaceable long link configuration using four analytical models: Model A (conventional system), Model B (RL–WF 250), Model C (RL–WF 300), and Model D (RL–WF 300 with modified cross-section). The analysis was performed using three-dimensional Component-Based Finite Element Method (CBFEM) on a two-story frame structure subjected to combined gravity and seismic loads. A distributed load of 15 kN/m was applied to each beam, while lateral loads were determined using the equivalent static method according to SNI 9273:2025. The results show that Model D satisfied both resilience and collapse prevention (CP) drift criteria, making it a promising alternative for replaceable long link structural systems during strong seismic events.
