Abstract
This study compares the axial bearing capacity and settlement of bored
pile foundations at the Terban Renovation project in Yogyakarta, using
manual analytical methods and PLAXIS 2D numerical simulation. Soil
parameters were obtained from Standard Penetration Test (SPT) data.
Bearing capacity was calculated using Meyerhof's (1976) method, while
pile group settlement was estimated using Vesic's (1977) method. The
manual calculation produced an ultimate group bearing capacity of
4,778.449 kN for both column labels 123 and 143. PLAXIS 2D yielded
lower values of 9576,71 kN for label 123 and 13144,3 kN for label 143,
indicating that the numerical simulation provides more conservative
bearing capacity estimates. This difference reflects how each method
models soil-pile interaction and failure mechanisms. For settlement, the
manual method gave 0.0053 m for both labels, while PLAXIS 2D returned
0.0096 m for label 123 and 0.0298 m for label 143. The variation between
labels in the PLAXIS results is due to different axial loads at each column
location, derived from the ETABS structural analysis. All settlement
values satisfy the allowable limit for high-rise buildings under SNI
8460:2017 (s < 15 cm + b/600), confirming that the foundation design
meets deformation criteria under the applied loading conditions.
