Abstract
Indonesia is in a highly seismic region due to the interaction of active tectonic plates, particularly along the Java subduction zone with its relatively steep dip angle. In addition, the collapse of a dormitory building at another Islamic boarding school in 2025 ago and the location of the studied building within the affected area of the 2006 Yogyakarta Earthquake associated with the Opak Fault highlight the importance of seismic performance evaluation. This study evaluated the seismic behavior of the C Dormitory Building of Madrasah Mu’allimin Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta using linear and nonlinear analyses based on SNI 1726:2019, SNI 1727:2020, SNI 2847:2019, and ATC-40. Linear analysis was performed through equivalent static and response spectrum analyses to evaluate structural irregularities, inter-story drift, and P-delta effects, while nonlinear evaluation was conducted using the Nonlinear Static Procedure (NSP). The results indicate that the structure does not exhibit horizontal or vertical irregularities, and both inter-story drift and P-delta effects satisfy the specified requirements. The pushover analysis produced a maximum base shear of 17,679.6086 kN with a displacement of 201.441 mm in the x-direction, and 21,394.983 kN with a displacement of 308.355 mm in the y-direction. Based on the ATC-40 performance evaluation, the structure is classified under the Damage Control (DC) performance level in both directions. In addition, the plastic hinge distribution indicates a beam sway mechanism consistent with the strong column–weak beam concept, where yielding predominantly occurs in beam elements before columns.
