Abstract

Kaligawe Raya Road, located in Semarang City, serves as a major arterial route connecting Semarang with Demak Regency and forms part of the northern coastal corridor (Pantura). This section experiences high traffic intensity, including heavy trucks and trailers, due to industrial and distribution activities along the Genuk corridor, such as Terboyo Park, LIK-Bugangan, and Terboyo Terminal. Despite the reconstruction completed by BBPJN Jateng–DIY in 2024, field observations in 2025 revealed several types of pavement damage, including cracking, spalling, and punch-out, which reduce road comfort and safety. These conditions indicate that the pavement service life is relatively short, mainly influenced by repetitive heavy traffic loads and inadequate drainage systems. Therefore, further evaluation is necessary to assess the current pavement performance and determine appropriate maintenance actions. This study focuses on a 1 km section of Kaligawe Raya Road, from STA 3+500 to STA 4+500. The data used consisted of primary data collected through field surveys using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method and secondary data such as Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT), California Bearing Ratio (CBR), and existing pavement structure. The analysis combined the PCI method to evaluate surface condition and the KENPAVE–KENSLABS software to analyze the structural response of the pavement. The results show that the dominant distress type is spalling joint with an average density of 15.16%. The overall PCI value is 75.65, categorized as very good, with the highest PCI of 92 (excellent) and the lowest of 51 (fair). Structural analysis using KENPAVE–KENSLABS produced a Cracking Index of 3.9% and a design life reduction from 40 years to 32.5 years. Based on these findings, routine maintenance is recommended as the most suitable treatment for the Kaligawe Raya section.
