The International Conference in Sustainable Built Environment (ICSBE) is a forum initiated by the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), through collaborations with worldwide universities and research institutions. The conference is aimed at nurturing the study, comprehension, and appreciation of the built environment.

The conference is intended to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, sharing of knowledge, and dissemination of information about the study of the built environment in different parts of the world. It seeks to further develop regional and international networks of academics, professionals, and policy makers on the management of the built environment.

Building on this tradition, the 8^th ICSBE in November 2025 adopts the theme:
Vernacularizing Sustainability: Stories of Ideas, Spaces and Technologies
This theme responds to the growing need for sustainability approaches that are rooted in local wisdom, cultural heritage, and contextual technologies—especially in the Global South. It invites reflections and innovations that bridge tradition and modernity, highlighting how vernacular knowledge can inform sustainable futures.

Distinct from previous iterations of ICSBE, which were held as in-person international conferences involving collaborations among academic institutions from various countries, ICSBE 2025 adopts a more dynamic and inclusive format. This year's program consists of three main components, Workshop, Webinar Series, and Book Chapter.
