Abstract
The global crisis affecting the food, water, and energy sectors requires companies, especially in the plantation sector, to increase their strategic role in achieving resource security. This study aims to analyze the influence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and tax avoidance on the value of plantation companies in Indonesia. In this study, a quantitative approach was used for a sample of plantation companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023. Business sustainability disclosure is used to measure ESG; tax avoidance is measured by the Effective Tax Rate (ETR), and Tobin's is used to measure company value. The analysis is conducted using multiple linear regression, with classical assumption tests as data processing requirements. The study shows that the implementation of ESG significantly increases company value, confirming that sustainability practices can increase company value. Conversely, tax avoidance does not affect company value, indicating reputational risks and potential compliance issues. In the literature on the relationship between ESG, tax practices, and company value, this study provides theoretical contributions, as well as practical implications for plantation company management to balance profitability interests with social responsibility and sustainability in facing global crisis challenges.
