Abstract
Plastic waste management problems at SMP Muhammadiyah Satu Depok are marked by the absence of waste sorting systems, low student awareness, and the lack of an institutional structure for environmental governance. Previously, the school initiated a “Trash Donation” program, but it was discontinued. This community service project aimed to foster students' ecological awareness, establish waste sorting systems, and explore the feasibility of forming a waste bank. The program was implemented in five stages: observation, 3R education, provision of separate waste bins, institutional exploration of a waste bank, and evaluation. A total of 21 students and one accompanying teacher, representing nine classes, participated in the activities. Results showed a significant increase in student understanding of waste management, as reflected in post-tests and behavioral observations during meal waste disposal. Separate waste bins were successfully provided and used. Although the waste bank was not established due to value paradigm differences, the program initiated promising shifts in environmental behavior. Future efforts should focus on establishing internal environmental units and integrating spiritual values into formal school policies for sustainability.
