Abstract
This community service program presents the business development design of a layer chicken farm in Karangasem Village, Sukoharjo Regency, as an effort to support the national food security program. This program is implemented through the Community Service Program of the Islamic University of Indonesia with the aim of creating an independent, affordable, and sustainable source of animal protein for rural communities. The methods used include field observation, market analysis, business planning using the Business Model Canvas (BMC), financial analysis, and technical design of a chicken coop for 1,000 laying hens. The results show that this business is feasible to implement, with an estimated initial investment of IDR 125,693,700 and three months of operational costs amounting to IDR 151,150,000. The designed marketing strategy includes product diversification (eggs, manure, culled hens), competitive pricing, and utilization of both online and offline channels. This business not only has the potential to increase community income through the Village-Owned Enterprise but also strengthens local food security and reduces dependence of chicken on external supplies.
