Abstract
Development in several sectors is currently increasing. This growth has a direct impact on developments in transportation, particularly land transportation. The development of land transportation requires sustainable road infrastructure, which requires significant amounts of road materials. To overcome the above problems, it is necessary to find alternative materials to utilize available natural resources, one of which is the waste from the extraction filter at the Highway Laboratory, Department of Civil Engineering, FTSP UII. In order to be able to use the extraction filter waste to meet the filler needs, research is needed so that it can be used properly. Extraction filter waste will be used as an additive in the asphalt concrete mixture of Stone Matric Asphalt (SMA). As the main component in the SMA asphalt concrete mixture, it is the largest portion of aggregate, almost reaching 93 to 95% of the weight unit, and the rest of the weight of asphalt as a binder. The SMA asphalt concrete mixture is usually used for the surface layer (wearing layer) with a gradation of continuous coarse gradation that meets the specifications of Bina Marga 2010 Revision 3. This study aims to determine the portion (%) of extraction filter waste as an additive in the SMA asphalt concrete mixture, and to determine the results of the study using the characteristics of the Marshal test, so that it will produce optimal asphalt content (KAO). The Job Mix Design (JMD) results will yield Flow Stability, VMA, VFWA, VITM, and optimum asphalt content (OAC). Samples will then be prepared from the OAC and added with extraction filter waste at 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4 % concentrations.
