Abstract

Karangasem Village, known for producing tamarind, has initiated a community service program focused on Empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) using the Design Thinking method to strengthen local food resilience by processing tamarind into tamarind ice. By reinforcing local food security through tamarind products, the branding of Karangasem Village is enhanced, and its economy also grows. This local food resilience program involves promoting MSMEs producing tamarind ice and sugarcane ice beverages. The program includes designing packaging labels and a Business Model Canvas (BMC) for Mr. Cholis’s MSME that produces sugarcane and tamarind-sugar drinks. The packaging label, created in the form of a logo stamp, successfully provides brand identity, while the BMC helps business owners understand business elements in a more structured way for future development. Both programs were well received by the community and provided real benefits in enhancing branding and business management. For students, this activity served as a platform to sharpen critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills that can be directly applied in society. For the community, especially MSME actors, the program outcomes are expected to be a starting point for strengthening branding, increasing product competitiveness, and expanding marketing opportunities through business evaluation and the use of digital technology. The improved branding of tamarind and sugarcane ice drinks also contributes to strengthening local food resilience and the economy of Karangasem Village.
