Abstract
Purwoharjo Village boasts significant potential in the agriculture, livestock, and tourism sectors, yet these sectors remain underutilized. Data shows that the majority of its residents fall into the extreme poverty category. This community service program aims to address these challenges and improve the community's quality of life through the application of appropriate technology and capacity building through training. This program implements the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle, and upcycle (3R + U) through a community-based tourism approach and community empowerment to create competitive educational tourism products. The program produces outputs in the form of 3R + U efforts, manifested in the form of presentations on replacing agricultural commodities with more valuable ones, reusing leftover production materials with similar functions, recycling waste into semi-finished goods that can generate economic benefits, and increasing the value of recycled waste to achieve high quality and become educational tourism products that enhance the competitiveness of tourism in Purwoharjo. The biggest challenge of this community service program is partner consistency. Partners are often inconsistent, resulting in less-than-optimal knowledge and skill transfer.
